CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE: THE DECLINING MOBILITY OF CALIFORNIA'S CHILDREN AND YOUTH

 

A new report from the Surface Transportation Policy Project, the Transportation and Land Use Coalition and the Latino Issues Forum, finds that California's children and youth are being forced to choose between navigating dangerous streets on foot or by bike or depending on their parents to get where they need to go. The failure of transportation planners to accommodate the travel needs of children is costing parents time and money, leading to unhealthy and inactive lifestyles among the state's 9 million children and youth, and making traffic the leading cause of unintentional death for Californians 17 and under.
